Manny Tracker Version .20111016 RELEASED!!!

Alright here is the new version of Manny Tracker with New Features, Bug Fixes, and MOAR!

Here a quick change list:

----------------------------------------------------------
Ver. 0.20111016
----------------------------------------------------------
FIX - Changed the sort algorithim to use a stable instead of unstable sort (maintains order of same day matches when recalculate match button is pressed
NEW - Delete Player under player menu will allow you to delete players AND will also remove all their matches played. This will affect all ranks.
NEW - Mutiple event support for importing TIO files. You can now import a single event in a multi-event tio file (thanks slash for suggesting this)
NEW - Add New Player dialog box, just cleaning up the interface a little and putting things into needed dialog boxes.
NEW - Changed data format of save files, which now allows multiple ".league" files to be saved so you can use this for mutiple games.
BUG - TIO file import does not support Round-Robin based tournaments.

New League Feature for Manny Tracker

I've been getting feedback on Manny Tracker and have begun adding some new features and updates:
1) Added a new ".league" file format for saving multiple sets of data.
2) You can Load, Save, Create New leagues.
3) You will be able to parse and select which event in a multi-event TIO save file to import from.
4) I am current researching the best way to possibly seed multiple events in a TIO save file.
5) Figuring out best way to support deleting players and matches.

I've already finished #1 & 2.
Should be able to bang our #3, and need some time to figure out #4.
Trying to decide how best to implement #5

Keep the feedback and error reports coming and I'll get a new build release soon.

New Version Of Manny Tracker Incoming

I've updated all the code to use unique GUID IDs instead of basing player and match IDs on their index in the list (yuk).
Of course old player and match data will be broken. But I'm working on adding a CSV export feature in the same format as the import feature that should allow you do transfer existing data to the new version.
I'm also going to automatically sort the match list based upon the date of the match, which should remove the requirement of importing TIO & CSV data in the correct order.
TIO does not specify the exact time a match takes place so it will still import the matches based on the date and in the order they were recorded. But this should still allow the rankings to reflect more accurate values.

TIO Integration Almost Done

So I've finished the bulk of the code for TIO Generation. You can now import TIO results in to Manny Tracker, and you can no export the player list into a empty TIO file ready to generate brackets. One cool trick is that I generate the TIO player list using the TIO skill levels so that it should generate a balanced bracket. Here are some screenshots:

As you can see, TIO generates brackets based off a players assigned Skill Level (1-10, 10 being highest) derived from each players current TrueSkill rating and their current ranking compared to all other players.

TIO Integration New Features

I'm making progress on adding TIO integration to Manny Tracker.
You will be able to import tio results, export players, and generate seeding based off of ranks. I planning on implementing seeding based off some really good info I found in this article on seeding:http://www.davidmarcus.com/Articles/Seed.pdf

TIO Intergration

The local fighting game community here in Washington State uses TIO for almost all of our tournaments. What is TIO you ask? Well it's one of the best tournament/bracket programs you can find on the web, and best of all it's free!
So, after poking around in the save files from some of our past tournaments, I found that the information is stored in an XML format. Which is very awesome, because now I can add TIO intergration into Manny Tracker.
This should allow some very cool features such as the ability to automatically seed the brackets based on current ranks and also the ability to automatically record tournament results.

If you havent seen TIO yet, check it out!

Alpha Build Of Manny Tracker

Here's the first alpha release of my Microsoft TrueSkill(TM) based ranking software. It's buggy, not feature complete and pretty hacked together, but it works. Go ahead and download it and give it a try.
I've included a sample CSV file that can be imported so you can see some basic results. Feed free to add players, matches, or even start fresh and try inputting some of your own data from whatever game you play.
Requires .NET 4

TrueSkill(TM) Application Alpha Screen Shot

I've been working on an application that can be used to track matches between players and then rank them using Microsoft's TrueSkill(TM) Rating System. I've posted a screen shot of the current alpha build in action after importing a CSV file containing all the player and match data I have collected over the last 8 months from our local Tekken Scene.

I still have a lot of work to do to get things looking and running well but things are coming along very well.

I'm of course open to suggestions, feedback, and suggestions for new features on the app and I'm hoping people will be able to use it for many different games such as Street Fighter, MVC3, Etc.

The beginning of a new legacy... or not.

So I've decided to begin a blog to generally document and support some ongoing development projects that I have been working on. On occasion I will also post links, info, articles, and opinions on different games and my involvement with the Fighting Game Community here in Washington State. With of course a few shameless plugs for my some of my friends and their endeavours (*cough* www.seattletekken.com *cough*)

I have two projects under-way right now, one is for using the Microsoft TrueSkill™ rating system outside of XBL, and the other is my first serious attempt at Indie Game Development. I'm by no means any good at blogging, development or fighting games but I do what I can. So expect things to hopefully change and improve over time and I'm always open to helpful feedback.

Now on with the show!
